Hoa Phat Group wanted to invest in a new flat steel production unit at its Dung Quat site with the goal of not only supplying commodity products but also to provide premium hot rolled coil (HRC) for the automotive and household appliance industries, as requested by Mai Van Ha, Director of Hoa Phat.
Primetals Technologies designed the installation to produce 3 million tons of flat steel annually. The facility integrates a melt shop, two continuous casters, and a hot strip mill, enabling efficient production through hot and direct charging.

This presentation explores advanced electric arc furnace solutions that significantly contribute to more sustainable steel production. The EAF Ultimate is engineered for very high electrical input, and the EAF Quantum has established a new performance standard in electric steelmaking.
Alongside this, the Active Power Feeder (APF) is a new-generation, fully integrated medium-voltage power supply system designed to provide a stable, efficient, and grid-friendly energy feed for electric arc furnaces.
