Long-Life Gas Cleaning Plant for Blast Furnaces That Requires Low Maintenance

The patented Tri-Ax Cyclone by Primetals Technologies ensures safe and reliable dust collection as the first stage of the gas cleaning plant. Traditionally, dry dust collection downstream of the blast furnace was managed by a gravity dust catcher. However, recent environmental considerations have led to an increase in the use of cyclone-type dust collectors, which operate at efficiencies of 85% or higher. This shift significantly reduces sludge generation at the water treatment plant, preventing excessive landfill waste. In the final stage, the gas enters a scrubbing vessel, where it is saturated and cooled by water in the spray tower, removing the bulk of the dust. The Davy Cone Scrubber completes the dust removal process, achieving an outlet dust concentration of less than 5 mg/Nm³ and a free moisture level in the gas stream of below 5 g/Nm³. Finally, a demisting device removes the remaining moisture, allowing clean fuel gas to be used downstream.
